Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, Dear donors

My name is Alishma Waris, and I am a student in the 8th standard.

I love going to school. I love opening my books, learning new things, and dreaming of a future where I can help others. My teachers say I’m a good student, and I always try my best—even when life is very hard at home.

My father has been sick for many years. He can’t work anymore. He lies on a bed, weak and tired, and sometimes I hear my mother crying at night, wondering how she will feed us tomorrow.

My mother is our only support. She stitches clothes day and night, sometimes without eating properly, just to keep our home running. She tries so hard, but the money she earns isn’t enough. Some days, we struggle even to afford simple meals or my school supplies.

This year, I might have to leave school.

We can’t afford the fees anymore. My uniform is torn, and I’ve been using the same old books for two years. I try not to complain, but I’m scared… scared that the one thing I love—my studies—will be taken away from me.

But I still have hope. I’ve heard that there are kind people in the Ummah who give Zakat to help those in need. My family is eligible for Zakat, and I am writing to you with all the courage I have, asking: 

Will you help me continue my education? If even a small part of your Zakat is used to pay my school fees, I will be able to stay in class, study, and one day support my parents the way they’ve always supported me.

I want to become someone who helps others. I want to make my parents proud. I want to earn a halal living and give back to this Ummah that helps children like me stand up again.

Please, remember me when you give your Zakat this year.

May Allah reward you with barakah, ease your difficulties, and make you among those who are always a source of light in someone’s darkness.
