My name is Mahboob, an elderly widow mother living a life of hardship and patience. I lost my husband during the Covid period. He was the only earning member of our family, and after his death, our world collapsed overnight.

I live with my orphan son who is mentally ill and needs regular medication and care. We stay in a small shed house, struggling every day to meet our basic needs. To survive, I run a very small shop at my doorstep and also do beedi work, which gives me very little income. I receive a widow pension of only ₹1,200, which is not enough for food, medicine, and daily expenses.

Despite my age and poor health, I do not want to beg. I only wish to stand on my own feet and start a small grocery store so I can earn with dignity, afford my son’s medicines, and manage our livelihood.
