Aslam Mohammed Yusuf Quraishi is a 75-year-old retired male suffering from Multiple Myeloma (A type of blood cancer) since Oct 2017. His Multiple Myeloma relapsed in May 2022. He is advised molecule Daratumumab 1200mg dose (Darzalex 400mg x 3 manufactured by Janssen Pharma) along with Denosumab 120mg molecule (Br& Xgeva manufactured by Doctor Reddy's Laboratory).

Janssen Pharma is the only company that manufactures the Daratumumab molecule (Darzalex) & is a very expensive injection. Each vial of Darzalex 400mg costs Rs 64,000. Hence the total monthly expense just towards this injection alone is Rs 1,92,000.

Denosumab 120mg (Xgeva manufactured by Doctor Reddy’s Laboratory) is the other injection given as part of his monthly treatment. This injection costs Rs 25,000.

Apart from the above two injections. He also takes Pomalidomide 2mg capsules which cost Rs 3,000 as his oral chemo medication.

He needs to be admitted monthly to a hospital for these injections & incurs a monthly hospitalization expense of Rs 30,000. This hospitalization expense includes administering these injections, blood tests, doctors’ fees, & hospital charges.
