Seeking your kind donations for Refurbishing the Rohingyas Kelampakkam refugees camp

Please help the refugee brethren with your Zakath & Sadqa - These poor Rohingyas live in pathetic, deplorable conditions

Zakat Eligible: YES
Location: Chennai

Assalamualaikum wrwb,
In Chennai the refugees from Myanmar live in dilapidated camps - shanties of cloth and tarpaulin pulled over bamboo structures, barely able to withstand a storm at the Kelambakkam cyclone shelter. It was earlier a Village Administration Office.

There is not enough space and it gets very dirty when rainwater floods the camps regularly during the monsoon. Far from Myanmar, their homeland, where they feel safe, these 85 Rohingyas are not at home in the refugee camp in Kelambakkam. Dingy rooms that barely have ventilation, narrow stairways, cluttered spaces and untidy surroundings — the camp located on the outskirts of Chennai paints a sorry picture. The deplorable living conditions probably don’t bother the Rohingya Muslims as much as they should, for they are happy to be alive.
But does it give them a decent quality of life? No. Each room is barely 10*8 square feet — stacked with utensils, mats, clothes and broken furniture for an average of four people living in it. Old sarees and shawls separate one room from another. “children are older now and it is hard for six people to adjust in a small room, “A total of 85 Rohingyas including 52 children are living in the Kelambakkam camp,” according to statistics from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR).
These refugees deserve a better standard of living and require a larger space for their children. Few good Samaritans visit their camps regularly and after thorough evaluation, they have come up with the plan of refurbishing their shelter ie the Tsunami building permanently. The total cost of refurbishing amounts to Rs14lacs approximately.
I kindly request generous donors to help these Rohingyas to live in a good condition home away from their homeland. May Allah swt reward us all who are striving to help the community at large.

Please donate for this magnificent cause.
JazakAllah khairan
Regards, Shereen
